Workshop Planned on Solar Financing Options
A number of financing options are available for private and public entities to install solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. Details will be presented at Understanding Your Solar Financing Options, Friday morning, June 3 at the Country Cupboard Restaurant in Lewisburg. The seminar is sponsored by the SEDA-COG Energy Resource Center (ERC).
According to Stacy Richards, ERC Director, “Our state gets enough sunshine to produce electricity that can be used, on-site, in place of electricity that’s currently being purchased, sold to electric utilities, or both. But the financing components that comprise a solar PV project aren’t always understood.” These components include solar renewable energy credits, net metering, federal tax benefits, equipment depreciation, and the levelized cost to produce a kilowatt of solar electricity.
Richards will describe details of these financing options to help public and private facility owners determine which option best meets their needs as they pursue solar energy projects.
She will be joined at Understanding Your Solar Financing Options by Chris Flynn, Business Development Specialist for the Sustainable Energy Fund in Allentown, which provides lending for small- to medium-sized businesses seeking to implement renewable or sustainable energy projects. Mr. Flynn is responsible for the Sustainable Energy Fund’s financial services unit.
Registration for Understanding Your Solar Financing Options is $25 and includes breakfast. Individuals are encouraged to pre-register and pay online at www.seda-cog.org/energy , but may also register at the door and pay by credit card, check (made payable to SEDA-COG) or cash.
