Parade of memory and the Lion's Club   

    It would be great to see a large turn-out for the Memorial Day Parade and festivities, games, food, sales, etc. that support the many charitable activities of the Lions Club of Monroe.

Forum Notes

The meeting was attended by about 35 people. The survey for input from the community has been created and I think it will be sent next week and a half. Farmers Market idea was discussed further, but without progress headway.There will probably be a few booths at the farm.

More signatures were collected for the moratorium of smart meters. We need to educate ourselves about what makes these meters, the CMP version and one version that can be found at www.stopsmartmeters.org.

Joyce Hillman spoke about the Council is changing, and I suggested re-locate in the main hall and hanging around the big map of City Hall, so we will look into it. There are apparently two good sized erasable boards to discharge.The Historical Committee will be pleased to learn that $ 118 was collected to date to obtain copies of historic photos of the collection Penobscot Marine Museum. Thank you to all who have contributed so far to this project, including the extension of Monroe.

Kitty Wilkinson reminded the group that there will be a public forum on the possible closure of the school on Monday, June 6, at 19.00 in the Monroe Elementary School. . It starts about 4:30 p.m. ET will continue until 6:30 or 7:00.

Rabies clinic

Waldo County Humane Society is sponsoring a free clinic against rabies at the Monroe Fire Station Saturday, June 4, 2011 from 9:00 to 11:00. Shots will be administered by Sarah Tomalty Little River Veterinary Hospital. Dogs must be leashed and cats in carriers.

Flow Yoga classes to start

   Kitty Wilkin is a Yoga Alliance 200 hours yoga teacher who will provide all levels of Vinyasa Flow Yoga Monday 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. starting June 20 at Monroe City Hall.You can pre-register for $ 55 for six classes or drop-in when you can for $ 10 per class. Knox-Pitch Co-ed Slow Fundraising

The Boosters Club is sponsoring a Knox slowpitch, softball tournament Co-ed / fundraiser Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Larrabee Field in Knox, with games starting at 08:00 sharp. (Double elimination) There are available slots for 12 teams only costs the team $ 100 entry (no refund). The winning team gets 12 T-shirts. Concessions are available all day.
